Forest Bathing, Adults – Okham & Chatley Heath, UK
Jun 22 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

The theme

Connecting with our Senses Outdoors.

The outline

This will be a slow walk of about 2 to 3kms with guided stops along the way.

The terrain is along unmade paths, some sandy, some in the woodlands with roots and stones. There are no steep climbs. Much of the session will be in silence with opportunities to exchange some of the things we notice. There are toilet facilities at the carpark, but we cannot guarantee opening times.

Who is this for?

This walk may be of particular interest to those who have a mindfulness practice, while also suitable for anyone who would like to feel more in touch with the experience of being outdoors. So both the curious and the experienced are welcome! We will adapt to the physical capabilities of the group but a minimum fitness is needed to complete the circuit. The April and June sessions are suitable for adults and the August walk is open to youngsters and will contain activities to engage and inspire.

What to expect?

Being out in nature is a wonderful opportunity to bring ourselves into the body and into the moment. We will take the time to really notice what is around us, to actually be there and appreciate the environment through all our senses, coming alive to the beauty of the natural world and to ourselves at the same time. Through guided moments we will remind ourselves to come back from the thoughts that so often take us away and reconnect over and over with the experience of walking, sitting, standing, moving in nature.

Tuning in like this can open us up to an awareness of the season, to the cycles of the ecosystem, to the interrelatedness of the living world and even help us to notice our own inner seasons and cycles.

The benefits

This can be a calming and restorative activity, participants report enjoying the shared experience, all be it, much of it in silence.

What to bring in a backpack

  • Outdoor shoes
  • All weather gear warm enough for the day
  • Umbrella (Optional)
  • Water
  • A picnic to eat mindfully
  • A lightweight mat to sit on
  • Mobile phone turned off (!)
  • A journal for writing (optional)

Mindfulness FREE intro session – Mouans-Sartoux, France
Jun 28 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Free intro June 28th from 10h to 12h everyone welcome!

it’s an intro session to the summer 8wk Mindfulness Course, Starting Thursday, July 12th.

If you have wanted to learn to meditate but don’t know where to start, then here is your chance. We work in a supportive group with clear live guidance and recorded meditations at home

This is the best environment to keep you on track until mindfulness has become second nature and simply a way of life. You do not need to sit cross-legged on a cushion ! Enjoy the calm and sense of freedom that comes from being in the moment. Give yourself this valuable gift and become the master of anxiety, low mood and distraction.

As one participant said “I thought, if not now, then when?! ”
In the 8 week course we will meet once a week for two hours to practice mindfulness techniques, study the workings of the mind and share our experiences. We will be sitting, walking, lying down and moving gently.

There will be some written exercises and discussion as well as times of silence and meditation.
To achieve positive results students commit to one lesson per week and 45 to 60 minutes of home practice 6 days per week. In this way old destructive habits of reacting to stress can be replaced by new ways of responding with intelligence and we will find that we are better equipped to deal with tension, fear or pain.

With mindfulness we can also be more present during our pleasant and joyful moments and thus able to enjoy the good times to the full.
This course is suitable for adults of any belief system or none. Participants will receive recordings covering six different meditation routines to facilitate their practice at home.

After the end of the course, Alison will be available for coaching by phone or Skype for those who would like to develop even more Mindfulness in their lives. Those who have studied the 8-week course are welcome to participate in any future courses for a 10 euro contribution per lesson, we love to have you back! (as long as space allows).
