Mindfulness is about being present and being here with kindness.  It is about paying attention to what is happening right now rather than skipping off into memories of the past or worries about the future. Mindfulness is good for you and anyone can do it.
 
You know how some people are anxious and depressed and they just can’t get better no matter how hard they try ? Well,  Mindfulness is a way of gently focusing attention which can break that negative loop so that life becomes meaningful again. Through meditation, mindfulness can enable one to see things differently, undoing mental and physical knots and tensions. It can increase your sense of personal confidence, of having more options and more strength to face challenges. It can bring you into the “now” and from the “now” a better quality of life develops.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is the largest and best-known stress reduction programme in the world. It was developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical department in the 70’s. It has benefitted people suffering from stress, stress-related conditions and chronic pain as well as many others whose needs were less acute but who sought a better understanding of self and an improved quality of life.

The UK`s N.I.C.E. National Institute for Clinical Excellence recommends the training as a means to significantly reduce the incidence of depressive relapse.

The core skill that you will learn is ‘mindfulness’ – a way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgementally, to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind, and the world around you.
